Happy Creek Coffee & Tea began because of a passion for really good coffee, the love for exceptional food, and a significant need for completely gluten-free eating establishments.
We primarily serve pour-over coffee and traditional espresso-based coffee drinks. From the moment coffee beans are ground, they begin to chemically break down. The longer ground coffee sits before it is brewed, the greater it degrades the flavor of the coffee. The pour-over method requires the barista to grind and brew each cup independently. This allows for a less than 60-second turn around time from grind to brew start, resulting in a very fresh, flavorful coffee not found in other coffee shops in the area. Our espresso consists of an expert blend of beans, which we then grind and immediately extract.
Since so many people have been diagnosed with Celiac disease or gluten intolerance, restaurants have responded by adding “gluten free” menu items. However, very few eating establishments offer a completely gluten-free menu. Without an entirely gluten-free kitchen, cross-contamination cannot be avoided. Knowing how difficult it can be to find places to eat outside of the home, Happy Creek wanted to create a worry-free and safe environment for people with Celiac disease or gluten intolerance to enjoy.
